The Uttar Pradesh Police has apprehended two constables and 20 members associated with the 'Solver Gang' in connection with malpractices during the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Exam. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kumar Ran Vijay Singh, the arrests include individuals from Bihar brought as solvers, with a conduit named Dipu Yadav facilitating the malpractice. Among the five arrested in Shikohabad, two are constables, one of whom, Constable Niranjan, allegedly appeared for the exam for multiple individuals in exchange for a substantial fee. The police have gathered evidence, and legal action is being pursued, with the suspects set to face imprisonment.
The arrests come as a blow to the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment process, which witnessed stringent security measures during the UP Constable Civil Police Direct Recruitment Examination. The Yogi Adityanath government, under 'Mission Rozgar,' announced the state's largest police recruitment on December 23, aiming to fill over 60,000 vacant constable positions. The examination, held at 2,385 centers across all districts, involved 48,17,441 candidates.
The state government took extensive security measures, deploying magistrates at each exam center, appointing police officers as center supervisors, and implementing comprehensive surveillance through CCTV cameras. Additionally, biometric verification was mandatory for all candidates entering the exam center. The recruitment initiative aimed to strengthen the police force, with 60,244 constable positions up for grabs, and the exams took place on February 17 and 18 across all 75 districts in the state.
